Hello friends,   I need your RSVP if you are going to Harbor Springs / Alden car show with us.  We are making arrangements for a catered dinner at Dave and Mary Hinz hideout garage in Harbor Springs, so I must have your RSVP so Mary and Dave can order the food.  Friday, August 12, 6 pm  directions to follow after I get your reservation.  I anticipate about $25.00 each for the dinner so please plan ahead to make this easier for all of us.

For the last few years, Dave and Diane Burton (the Prez and his first lady of the Gruppe) have hosted the Gruppe picnic at their home on Oxbow Lake.

Next year it will return to the Skirmants’ home in North Branch where it was held for many, many years also. The difference is that the picnic will never go back to the Burton’s house on Oxbow Lake as they are building a new home just a tad further away.

This year’s swan song did not disappoint as Dave and Diane once again ordered up perfect weather. The cars were again spread around circular drive as we sat inside the well kept garage turned social center/dining room.

Dave’s Toy Barn is always a treat to spend time in, I am guessing that the Man Cave in the new diggs will also be as cool……

Thanks again to Dave and Diane for opening their home to the Gruppe these last few years, next year they deserve a break and we will all be gathered and relaxing at the Skirmants’ for the Gruppe Picnic 2017.

I know this is short notice, but please join us for a one day trip to the Vintage races at the beautiful Mid-Ohio Race Course in Lexington Ohio this Saturday June 25th, 2016.We will take back roads most of the way to watch our local racers (including Vic Skirmants) run qualifiers on Saturday.

The open paddock alone is worth the trip if you’ve never been or have not attended for a while.

Of course there are plenty of Porsches in the paddock…

But also parked everywhere too…

Saturday is the best day to go if you only attend one day because of the infield parking by make. There is always something new to see.

I’ll be leaving at 7:00am from Ann Arbor, but if that is not convenient we can meet in Toledo/Perrysburg and go from there. We will arrive at the track around 10:00am and spend a few hours enjoying the entire experience before returning via back roads to Michigan.

This year’s Motor Cities Gruppe Picnic is Sunday July 10th from Noon until the last car leaves. It is being hosted once again at the fabulous home of Dave and Diane Burton.

We will have the same format as last year; the club will furnish the meat entrees (ribs & chicken) while the members will bring their choice of side dish, salad or dessert. Please RSVP and let us know what you are bringing so that we don’t end up with too many of one thing and none of another. Home made goods seem to be more popular than store-bought (judging by leftovers). Please call Diane at or email me at [email protected] to RSVP

The club also furnishes water and soft drinks, anything else please bring your own. If anyone would like to swim in the lake, bring a swimsuit and towel

356’s come up the driveway and park on the lawn by the house, all others please park in the street. We will have the tables set up in the garage as before so the weather won’t affect the event
